Music Bingo works just like traditional bingo, but instead of numbers being called out, songs are played. Each player gets a bingo card with song titles or artists. As the new year rolls around, many of us are looking for ways to refresh our habits and embrace healthier, more sustainable choices. Veganuary – a global campaign encouraging people to try vegan living during January – has grown in popularity, offering a perfect opportunity to explore plant-based eating. For families in the UK, Veganuary isn’t just a personal challenge; it’s also a chance to enjoy delicious, guilt-free meals together.

In recent years, vegan food has shed its reputation as a niche or restrictive option. Here at Charnallies we offer a full vegan menu, from delicious starters including quesadillas; pizzas, pastas, burgers and hot dogs for mains, and chocolate fudge cake and Biscoff cheesecake for dessert. We can also cater for little people and our childrens’ menu, offering pasta, pizza and sausages as vegan options – as well as a good scoop of dairy free ice cream for dessert!

Our vegan menu is available all year round, and we also offer a two/three course lunch menu for a set price of £12.50/£15.50 – making our plant-based meals affordable and delicious.

Planning for a special occasion can be one of the most stressful times, but the team here at Charnallies are here to save the day!

With lots of different options to chose from, we have something for every occasion – whether you’re looking for a sit-down meal for a birthday, an Afternoon Tea for a baby shower or a buffet for a wake, our team are fully trained to be able to assist you.

Charnallies owner, Lisa Brumpton, said “We have always been known as the party venue here in Clacton for many reasons, including our large space for bigger gatherings to booths for a more intimate celebration, family friendly menus for all tastebuds that are amazing value for money, tailored buffet options to suit all needs and so much more”.

Charnallies has been the home to hundreds of celebrations since they opened the doors in November 2004, including Glenn’s surprise 50^th birthday. Glenn said “The evening was the most perfect way to celebrate my milestone birthday. The staff at Charnallies put a huge effort into decorating the bar area with balloons and banners, my sister had given them lots of photos of me throughout my life and they put those all up too before the guests arrived. The buffet was delicious and plentiful, the music was perfect and the staff on duty were great at preparing the drinks and ensuring all guests were happy. I don’t think we would choose any other venue for our future celebrations. They even brought my birthday cake out to Happy Birthday being played – they really do think of all the little details to make it the best time”.

Charnallies really can cater for all events, whether its for a table of two dining from the main menu, a family of 10 celebrating a younger birthday or a football team holding their awards night.

This Easter we had yet another sell out Children’s Party, with a Disney theme we were surrounded by 60 excited children all dressed up as their favourite Disney characters – from Pinocchio to Spider-Man and Bingo to Mary Poppins. The staff were also eager to dress up, we had Snow White, Minnie Mouse, Stitch and Queen Anna dancing the morning away!

We hold Children’s Parties every year during the school holidays at Easter and Halloween, and have done since 2014. Children of all ages enjoy the games and dancing – especially when there’s treats to be won.

Charnallies owner, Lisa Brumpton, said “Although a lot of hard work gets put in behind the scenes, the hours of planning is 100% worthwhile to see the happiness on all of the guests faces – that’s both the children and the adults they come with. Here at Charnallies, we have always been family focused for the 20 years we have been trading, and these parties are one of the best days of the year!”

The parties are led by local DJ AndersonEnts, who plays all the best party songs and gets all of the children involved in party games, including ‘Toby Says’, musical statues, four corners and so much more. DJ Toby said “Out of all the parties I get hired for, these are up there as my favourites! I absolutely love getting all the children – and their adults and the staff – up and dancing and involved – seeing them all doing the conga inside and outside the restaurant is the highlight for me!”
